A bigger fish than I

I think I was probably 14 before I caught a fish as big as the carp that my son and I landed last month. It makes  me really happy to see the reaction when he fighting a fish that weight nearly as much as he does. "Big fish dada! Big fish!" it really does not get any better than that!

 

 

This sort of experiences does not work out every time however. Proper gear is essential and as you can see from the picture full sized carp gear is still a bit to larger for a 2.5yo. He is quite proficient with shorter rods however so when the $$$ are there I will be getting him some proportional equipment.

 Some friends were also there and able to have their kids get a feel for the carp. Carp fishing is growing here in the USA and the future of the sport will depend on how the future generations see the fish.
